The firm was initially established in 1973 by John H. ("Jack") Spelman, Paul A. Taglia, Stuart F. Meek, Jr. and William O. Lagoni. 

It has continued in the same location to the present with changes in the attorneys due to retirement, judgeship and other reasons. Over the years the firm has conducted a general practice of law, including litigation and transactional matters. 

Today, it is a family practice consiting of the father dealing primarily with transactional matters and the son and his wife with litigation matter. 

The firm consists of Jonathan B. Sauer, Brian C. Sauer, and Whitney E. Hadanek, who have a combined 50 plus years of legal experience.
